Law Regulations about Cyber Crimes and their Efficiency essayEssay Writing Service
Law Regulations about Cyber Crimes and their Efficiency essayEssay Writing Service Law Regulations about Cyber Crimes and their Efficiency essay Law Regulations about Cyber Crimes and their Efficiency essayThere exist a great number of cyber crimes that should be taken into consideration when analyzing the problem of jurisdiction and law regulations in regard to the violations within the cyberspace. There can be specified different degrees of the existing crimes that generally depend on the services acquired without authorization or certain harm caused to the property or services. Among the degrees of criminal activity within Internet there should be specified the computer crimes that create certain risk of severe physical injury to people using the worldwide web.à à à à à à à à à à à The following research analyzes a number of computer crimes and correlating law regulations. Among the most widely spread crimes are theft or interruption of the computer services, unauthorized access to someoneââ¬â¢s computer system, misuse of oneââ¬â¢s computer system data or even the destruction of the computer eq uipment. Accordingly, there exist certain laws purposed for regulating the criminal activity in the network. Some laws are reasonably applied and turn to be fruitful in the struggle against cyber crimes. However, there are also laws that require certain modifications.à à à à à à à à à à à It should be admitted that the analysis of cyber crimes and correlating laws should start with the very definition of cyber crimes. Thus, these are criminal offenses committed by means of the Internet or performed by different kinds of computer technologies, including the use of some kinds of social networks to bully Internet users or sending some sexually explicit photos by means of a smart phone. It should be admitted that cyber crimes represent quite a new phenomenon. However, a great number of offenses that can be committed via computers or smart phones, such as theft or underage pornography, can be committed in person before a person comes of age. On the whole, any cyber crime is likely to be committed by means of networking computer technologies. In many states, computer crime laws are designed to prohibit computer users from performing certain illegal actions without authorization. Such computer crimes include improper access of a computer or network, modification or damage of certain programs or data, sending viruses or contaminating the computer systems in some other way, interfering with someoneââ¬â¢s computer use or access and a great number of other violations. In order to protect oneself from such kind of cyber crimes, there has been designed a great deal of laws aimed at regulating the rate of crimes within the network. Some people are not able to conduct their business or simply feel safe when using the computer because of the high rate of criminal activity in the network. There are basic laws of how to feel safe in the cyberspace. Thus, a person should be careful when giving personal information such as bank account codes or social secu rity numbers over the Internet. Another advice is to learn the warning signs of some sort of fraudulent behavior in the worldwide web. One should be especially careful and take these elementary precautions in order to keep oneââ¬â¢s system data private. A person should use passwords that would be difficult to hack or change. Moreover, a person is advised not to perform any financial transactions when using public computers or over poorly protected networks. Finally, the anti-virus program should be good enough to protect the computer from viruses.Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that there exist a number of laws and statutes aimed at preventing the risk of theft, abuse and fraud. In fact, laws against misuse of computer system, for example, turn to be effective and not so many people admit that their personal information has been used for improper purposes. Certain minor offenses are also considered to be less harmful to the Internet users and the jurisdiction seems able to protect the computer users from a great number of minor offenses. On the other hand, such laws as the law to protect computers from explicit pornography turns to be not so efficient. A great number of people get pornography-related viruses on their computers and often ask computer specialists for help. Pornography has become a real disaster within the cyber space and the situation seems to get worse. This is the case when law seems to be fruitless in the attempt to bring cyber crime to an end.Nowadays, the whole world is more interconnected than ever in the history of humanity. However, increased connectivity leads to the increased risk of fraud, abuse and theft. Various security sectors highlight the importance of the national protection from various kinds of cyber crimes. Nevertheless, not all laws launched by the security sectors seem to bring positive results. As the American nation becomes more reliant and dependant on modern technologies, it becomes more and more vulnerable to various cyber attacks, including corporate security violations, the majority of which take place when hackers start exploiting employees by means of social scams and engineering. Some hackers target the employees via emails that are supposed to be from their colleagues within their organizations. It allows cyber criminals to steal and misuse personal data of the employees. However, the laws set against the above-stated violations seem to be quite effective and prevent employees from being mistreated by cyber criminals. On the other hand, social media frauds happen more and more often and there seems to be no remedy from this kind of cyber crimes. Cyber criminals increasingly use social media and social network to engage in the identity thefts and make individuals download dangerous codes or reveal their own passwords. To address the ever increasing threats and risks of cyber crimes, the Department of Homeland Security, shortened to DHS, works directly with the private and public part ners to ensure security within the cyberspace. Moreover, the National Association of State Chief Information Officers or NASCIO also tries to promote cyber security and the awareness of people about different kinds of crimes existing in todayââ¬â¢s cyberspace. In general, the most important thing to ensure cyber security lies in promoting digital literacy among all users of worldwide web. The US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE, is dedicated to struggling against cyber crimes as well. Various Cyber Crimes Centers also work to prevent crimes in the cyberspace and eliminate cyber incidents. In such a way, much is being done to prevent criminal activity in the Internet. It should be admitted that some laws turn out to be quite efficient, while others are almost totally fruitless and bring little or no result in the struggle against cyber crimes. The above paper analyzed the most frequently occurring crimes existing in the cyberspace of modern days and the best and worst ways to bring them to an end. Much has already been done, but the question of cyber criminal activity is still under discussion.

5 Differences Between Spanish and English Object Pronouns
5 Differences Between Spanish and English Object Pronouns Because both are Indo-European languages, the grammars of Spanish and English are quite similar. Even so, grammatical differences between the two languages abound. Among them is the way that object pronouns are treated. Here are five ways that Spanish deals with object pronouns in ways that might not seem familiar to English speakers: Direct vs. Indirect Pronouns In the third person, Spanish distinguishes between direct and indirect object pronouns. The English third-person object pronouns are him, her and it in the singular and them in the plural, and the same words are used whether the object is direct or indirect. (In the simplest sense, although the distinctions dont always line up in the two languages, a direct object is one that is acted upon by a verb, while an indirect object is one affected by a verbs action even though the action is directed at someone or something else.) But in standard Spanish (exceptions are explained in our lesson on leà smo), the pronouns are distinguished like this: Singular direct objects: lo (masculine), la (feminine).Plural direct object: los (masculine), las (feminine).Singular indirect object: le.Plural indirect object: les. So while the simple English sentences I found her and I sent her a letter use the same pronoun her, a distinction is made in Spanish. The first sentence would be La encontrà ©, where la is a direct object, while the second would be Le mandà © una carta with le being the indirect object. (Letter or carta is the direct object.) Attaching Pronouns to Verbs In Spanish, object pronouns can be attached to some verbs. The pronouns can be attached to three verb forms: infinitives, gerunds and affirmative commands. The pronoun is written as part of the verb, and sometimes a written accent is needed to maintain the correct pronunciation. Here is an example of each of the verb types with an attached pronoun: Infinitive: Voy a amarte por siempre. (Im going to love you forever.)Gerund: Seguà an mirndonos. (They kept on looking at us.)Command: à ¡Cllate! (You shut up!) Different Distinctions The distinction between direct and indirect objects is different in the two languages. Taking note of which verbs require the use of le or les would be beyond the scope of this lesson. But it can be said that many Spanish verbs use the indirect-object pronoun where the pronoun in English would be viewed as a direct object. For example, in the sentence Le pidieron su direccià ³n (They asked him for his address), le is an indirect object. But in English, him would be viewed as a direct object because he was the one who was asked. The same is true in Le pegà ³ en la cabeza (They hit him in the head). Using Pronouns Redundantly It is common in Spanish to use an object pronoun even when the noun represented by the pronoun is explicitly stated. Such a redundant use of the pronoun often occurs when the object is named and appears before the verb: A Chrisà le gusta escuchar mà ºsica. (Chris likes listening to music. See more in the lesson on gustar.)Toda la ropa la tenemos en descuento. (We have all the clothing on sale.) Note that the redundant pronoun isnt translated to English. The pronoun also is used redundantly in some cases to add emphasis, or often because thats what sounds right to native speakers even if such use isnt mandatory: Lo conocemos bien a este seà ±or. (We know this man well.)Le dieron un regalo a la nià ±a. (They gave a present to the girl.) Using Pronouns Alone Instead of In Phrases Spanish sometimes uses an indirect object pronoun where English would use a phrase. In English we often indicate who or what was affected by a verbs action with phrases such as for me or to him. In Spanish, it may not be necessary to make a phrase. The case where doing so sounds most unfamiliar may be with the verb ser (to be). For example, in Spanish you could say No me es posible for It is not possible for me. But similar constructions are possible with other verbs as well. For example, Le robaron el dinero means They stole the money from him or They stole the money from her.

Article evaluation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Article evaluation - Essay Example The article concludes that the three theories; the routine activity theory, environmental criminology and rational perspectives all contend that the organizational environment plays a significant role in the commission of such crimes and that the management of organizations must develop appropriate relationships with the environments to safeguard both their resources and the privacy of the employees. The routine activity theory, for example, develops the concept of targets. By routine activities with computers at the place of work, helps reveal the weaknesses that perpetrators often exploit before they commit crimes. The case study shows the importance of enhancing the safety of information systems in an organization. Using the case, the article applies the three theories thus showing the nature of the relationship that exists between the staff and the organization environment. Despite the strengths, the article has several other weaknesses key among which is the application of the th ree theories since they sound repetitive. The routine theory, for example, explains the behavior of employees at an organization thereby showing the features of both the victims and perpetrators. Environmental criminology does the same a feature that makes either redundant. The author of the article draws a systematic conclusion by proving the application of each theory in the Barings Bank case. He concludes that criminals often use the knowledge of the environment coupled with their understanding of the operations of the organization to commit a crime.

John Edwards (Redeployment in Iraq) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
John Edwards (Redeployment in Iraq) - Essay Example A recent survey finds two in three Democrats believe the war is already lost and a serious criticism about the adventure of America's war against terrorism in Iraq is evident from the public side as well.1 President George W. Bush started the U.S.-Iraq War, led by the United States against the regime of Saddam Hussein, the authoritarian leader of Iraq in 2003. He explained that the goals of the war were to "disarm Iraq [and] to free its people." The initial reports of CIA and the Pentagon had demonstrated that Iraq possessed nuclear weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and these weapons were a serious threat to the world peace. But, after the Saddam regime has been overthrown and Saddam crucified, there is still no evidence of any such weapons of mass destruction and the public now doubts whether the goals stated by the Bush administration were really true or there were some other intentions that caused to start a war in the name of fight against terrorism and which has proved futile and fruitless. Over the years, more than 2,400 American military personnel have been killed and 18,000 wounded. The financial losses of this war are also dismal with more than $300 billion having been spent in this war and yet the war has not made the United States safer as promised to the American people. That is why; the people now are demanding immediate withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq. Among the advocates of withdrawal, there are the Democrats like John Deutch and Republicans like William Buckley.2 The Problem: From the above surveys, I can conclude that the majority of Americans does not believe in the success, intentions and goals of the U.S. - Iraq war. Besides the public opinion, there are some statistics that show the Bush Administration is not only suffering criticism on its policies, the Bush Administration's mistake in Iraq - invading for the wrong reasons and without enough troops to secure the country - have left the United States with no good options. The prolonged deployment of U.S ground forces in Iraq has resulted in increased suicide terrorism and the Iraq people now see the United States as an occupier rather than a savior. The invasion and occupation of Iraq has made terrorist threat worse than before. And coupled with Bush's disdain for managing shifting geopolitical balances to create a stable strategic environment in the Middle East, the Iraq War has weakened America's regional position in multiple ways.3 Thus, I would like to draw your attention about the actual problem that has caused a setback for the United States. From the facts mentioned above, it seems clear that the prolonged deployment of the American troops has negatively impacted the overall performance of the personnel at other fronts like Afghanistan and the probable action against Iran. Since the previous year, Al-Qaida has re-organized itself in Afghanistan and has gained control over many strategically important places. Similarly, there is instability in the bordering areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan where suicide attacks on the forces have become a common phenomenon and these attacks have negative psychological affects demoralizing the personnel deployed in the country. The war in Iraq has in fact caused the virtual isolation of the United States in the International community and the earlier supporters of the

Mental illness Essay Example for Free
Mental illness Essay Proof written by David Auburn goes through the life of an esteemed mathematician plagued by mental illness. In the beginning of the play Proof we are introduced to a professor at a local Chicago College named Robert. We first are introduced to Robert through a delusion of Catherineââ¬â¢s, another main protagonist of David auburns play. Auburn shows Robertââ¬â¢s genius and madness at various stages throughout the play. Auburn goes on throughout his play to exemplify the impact mental illness has on everyday family life. David Auburn introduces his two protagonist, Catherine and Robert through a delusion of Catherineââ¬â¢s late one night. We learn that Robert is a prestiged mathematician who was plagued with a rare mental illness. David Auburn hints at the idea that Catherine, Robertsââ¬â¢s daughter, was also gifted with the same mathematical skills as her father. In act 1, Robert and Catherine get into an argument over what are good days or bad days. Catherine seems to believe that the good days are those days when you just stay in bed all day and donââ¬â¢t leave, but Robert believes that those are days lost. Robert shows his concern for Catherine when he states ââ¬Å" You sleep till noon, you eat junk food, you donââ¬â¢t work, the dishes pile up in the sinkâ⬠¦ Some days you donââ¬â¢t get up, you donââ¬â¢t get out of bedâ⬠(Auburn 9). Robert worries that Catherine is suffering from depression from witnessing her fathers prolonged illness. Robert thought everyday not doing mathematics was a day lost and couldnââ¬â¢t imagine ââ¬Å" the work you lost, the ideas you didnââ¬â¢t have, discoveries you never made because you were moping in your bed at four in the afternoon. ( Auburn 9). Catherine and Robert seem to have different aspirations in life, Robert wants to discover new mathematical equations when Catherine wants to just relax. While we are lead to believe that Catherine is lazy we get glimpses of her talent for numbers. We see that Catherine is brilliant through the eyes of her father when he says ââ¬Å" Even your depression is mathematical. Stop moping and get to work. The kind of potential you haveâ⬠( Auburn 10). Robert understands that Catherine has great potential to discover long elegant equations, but refuses to do so for some unspecific reason. Auburn then changes the spotlight from Catherine to Robert when Catherine asks her father if his worked changed after he got sick. This is the first time David Auburn mentioned anything about an illness. Auburn leads us to believe that Catherine who recently turned 25 is worried that she might to develop this same debilitating mental illness as her father. Auburn shows this when Catherine asks Robert how old he was when it all started. Robert goes on to say ââ¬Å"mid-twenties. Twenty- three, four. Is that what you are worried about? â⬠( Auburn 11). We see that Catherine is terrified that if she tries to do the same work her father did she to will go mad. Robert goes on to comfort Catherine by stating ââ¬Å" Crazy people donââ¬â¢t sit around wondering if theyââ¬â¢re nutsâ⬠. ( Auburn 12). Catherine then goes to argue with Robert that his reasoning is incorrect because he was crazy and he admitted it, but Robert we then learn that Robert is also dead. This is the first time in David Auburnââ¬â¢s play that the readerââ¬â¢s feel that both Catherine and Robert are and did suffer from a unidentified mental illness. David Auburn leads us to believe that his main protagonist, Robert, has a sever illness called schizophrenia, but we arenââ¬â¢t sure. We notice that Robert has isolated himself and is very much set-aside from the real world. We notice Robertsââ¬â¢s life change from his brilliant mathematician/ college professor to an insane ââ¬Å"graphomaniacâ⬠(Auburn 15). Catherine goes on and explains to Hal that Robertââ¬â¢s work has no connections to mathematical greatness, but to the same level as a ââ¬Å"monkey at a typewriter. â⬠( Auburn 15). When Hal says he is ââ¬Å" prepared to look at every page. â⬠(Auburn 15), Catherine says ââ¬Å" no. Iââ¬â¢m not crazyâ⬠(Auburn 15). This is significant because we as readers question if Catherine is really saying that to Hal or trying to convince herself that she isnââ¬â¢t crazy. We get an idea that Catherine is crazy to. As Robertââ¬â¢s struggle with schizophrenia continues he starts to exemplify some bizarre habits. We arenââ¬â¢t introduced to Robertââ¬â¢s true madness until Catherine comes home from college to visit him. We get the image of a man sitting outside on a cold Chicago winter night without a jacket complaining that the excruciating heat inside the house. We arenââ¬â¢t told specifically that Robert has schizophrenia but we are lead to believe that he is suffering from it. ââ¬Å"Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and disabling brain disorder that has affected people throughout historyâ⬠(Schizophrenia). Schizophrenia impacts about 1% of the United Stated Population. Even though schizophrenia isnââ¬â¢t common it still impacts millions of peoples lives each year. Robert exemplifies a lot of the same characteristics a patient who is diagnosed with schizophrenia is having. Many people diagnosed with schizophrenia feel that someone or something wants to harm them. They have a very hard time telling what is real and what is not. Many people with the disorder are terrified of the imaginary people that they withdraw themselves from day to day activity. In Proof Robert ââ¬Å"believed that aliens were sending him messages through the Dewey decimal numbers on the library books. He was trying to work out the code. â⬠(Pg 19) Robert is showing how mentally unstable he is. He is having a hard time telling the difference from what is real and what is not. Robert also struggled with his normal everyday to day routine, leaving a burden on Catherine. Catherine was forced to leave her brilliance based down from Robert and take care of him. When patients are diagnosed with schizophrenia they have a hard time retaining normal day-to-day activities so they rely on other family and friends for help, for Robert, his help came from Catherine. This leaving a terrible burden on Catherine. Robert clearly was mentally unstable and should have been placed in a mental institution with professionals that could have properly treated him. If Catherine had put him in an institution she would have been able to continue on with her schooling and at her fathers brilliance to good work. Her father also may have been able to be cured because of the significant evolve of research on schizophrenia and other mental health issues. As a reader I question Catherineââ¬â¢s decision because I believe that she feared that if she placed her father in an institution Claire, her sister, would try and place Catherine in an institution also. Again that is the whole reason Claire wants Catherine to move back to New York City with her. Auburn leads his readers to question if Catherine ââ¬Å" Dropped out of schoolâ⬠(Auburn 19) to stay and take care of her father, or because she was afraid that she was starting to develop similar symptoms her father had Even though we arenââ¬â¢t told specifically what Robertsââ¬â¢s mental disorder is, we are lead to believe that it is schizophrenia. Robert has exemplified most to all of the symptoms of schizophrenia in many ways. Robert should have been placed in proper care with proper guidance and treatment. With the proper help Catherine could have been able to continue with her studies and move on with her life.

Ellington :: essays research papers fc
An American jazz composer, orchestrator, bandleader, and pianist, composer of jazz music, I am all of this and probably more. I am Edward Kennedy (ââ¬Å"Dukeâ⬠) Ellington. I was nicknamed ââ¬Å"Dukeâ⬠by a boyhood friend of mine who admired my royal air. And the name stuck to me. I grew up listening to black music. At that time jazz was considered low and vulgar by most respectable and sophisticated people like myself. I was born in Washington on April 29, 1899. Born to the son of James William Ellington and Eliza Jane Johnson. I am said to be the most prolific composer of my time. Iââ¬â¢ve never actually had much education, but still I was able to develop good speech, dress, and manner. When I was young, the times were bad for us. There was agricultural depression. My family lived as middle-class citizens. We werenââ¬â¢t wealthy nor were we poor. My parents have musical backgrounds. I got my first job selling peanuts at Washington Senatorââ¬â¢s baseball games, and it was the first time I was placed as a performer for a crowd. When I was a teenager I played the piano in a musical style known as ragtime. I attended Armstrong Manual Training School to study commercial art instead of going to an academics-oriented school. During the summers, in Philadelphia or Atlantic City, I began to seek out and listen to ragtime pianists there. While I was on vacation in Asbury Park, there was a hot pianist that I heard of, his name was Harvey Brooks. Guess what? At the end of my vacation I went and sought for Harvey Brooks in Philadelphia, that was where he showed me some pianistic tricks and shortcuts. His playing triggered me to start up my music career, and then you have it, me, Duke Ellington the musical is born. I learnt from Oliver ââ¬Å"Docâ⬠Perry and Louis Brown, they taught me to read music and helped me improve me playing skills on the piano. I also went to find piano playing jobs at clubs and cares in Washington. I actually dropped out of school to pursuer my music career. I played for my friends and at parties, and soon I formed a small dance band named The Duke's Serenaders in 1917. I moved away from Washington to New York City in 1923. I went to New York to find musicians who could contribute special sounds to my band.

Filipino People and Hardworking Filipinos Essay
Negritos ââ¬â Negritos represent a resourceful and hardworking Filipinos because in their time, hardwork and patience is the core of surviving in the wild. Indonesians ââ¬â Their greatest influence is agriculture. Because of agriculture, Filipinos learned to till the land and that is one of the major sources of Philippine Products today. Malays ââ¬â Their greatest influence is that theyââ¬â¢ve introduced a more advance way of living. Barangay Early Philippine Civilization and Subsequent Changes. -What Iââ¬â¢ve learned in this topic is that this early type of Philippines civilization helps in the management of the early society that results to more cooperative and systematic community. Spanish Occupation An important impact of Spanish rule in the Philippines is the creation of a mestizo culture with entrenched landed interests and a highly skewed land distribution. The Spaniards made the local datus head of the barangays, who eventually acquired large landholdings. Spanish Occupation ââ¬â One of the greatest achievements of Spanish Authorities is the centralized and organized government. They also preserve the traditional authority of local leaders that helps in governing the least manageable units of the society. It is good in the side of the Spanish because it is their efficient way of collecting tax and managing the Filipinos. For me the way they want to organized the government is one of their greatest achievement because it helped in the organization of better governance. Other Political Organization Negritos ââ¬â This is one of the earliest political organization wherein the leadership is vested on the elder men Kalinga ââ¬â The leadership is vested on the stronger people who has the power to influence people. Benguet Village ââ¬â composed of formal legal Political structure and the traditional authority. Muslim ââ¬â One of the greatest political organizations because their government structure is more organized because there are branches of the community that govern every single segment in the society. Political System Encomienda System ââ¬â Encomienda system has good and bad effects in our country. Because of this system, Filipinos were forced to pay taxes to the Spanish. One of the good effect is that it civilized those Filipinos in the far away places. Other good effect is to protect the inhabitants and maintain peace and order. But this system is abused by higher Spanish officials because they collect too much tax and products from the Filipino people. Central and Local Governance -This government structure is one of way for the Spanish to control over the Philippines. Katipunan This serves as an eye opener for the Filipino citizens to fight for independence and Filipinos were unified.. Because of this, Filipinos were more conscious of what the Spaniards are doing to them. The goal of this movement is to separate the Philippines from Spain, and this is good for the Filipinos because that time Spanish are very cruel to them. But because the organization is discovered by the Spaniards this movement did not materialized. The Pact of Biak na Bato One of the learning of this topic is that Filipinos try other means for their independence. Even though this movement is not successful, this event causes for Filipinos to rely on the Americans. The Philippines Under The American Colonial Rule American Occupation in the Philippines is the best and most important occupation here in the Philippines. One of the greatest influences of the Americans is the organization of school systems in the country. Another is the equalization of women in the society. Americansââ¬â¢ actions in establishing the first formal education in the Philippines was something to which we should be thankful for. We were given the chance to be educated. And since the medium of instruction in public schools were in English, Filipinos were given the chance to learn the language of our occupants: Americans, the chance to learn the universal language. Here, Filipinos were very willing to learn and were glad that they were given the chance. Japanese Occupation Japanese occupation cause severe destruction during the Philippines because theyââ¬â¢ve abolished government structures and abuse many Filipinos and Americans. One of the evidence is the Death March. They also established Pro-japanese militants, all of them are Filipinos and these groups were used by the Japanes to spy on the Filipino Activities. Filipinos has not much enthusiasm in returning to school first because the Filipinos as a whole were suspicious of the Japanese intension and second, children focused on helping their parents tide over the difficult times. Even though the Japanese allowed continuing using English as the medium of instruction in teaching.

As a result of these charges, his licence has been suspended for 90 days. For the shutdown on one of the busiest highways in the province after a truck slammed into scaffolding at the top of the Skyway Bridge, stopping all traffic heading towards Toronto. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt speaks out and says Impaired driving is one of the key priorities we have to keep our highways safe and one of the leading causes of injury and death. I choose this Topic story because, it is a major issue with teens around my age, and knowing that it cause a large amount of deaths every year. Touches my heart, it is not responsible and I believe this should not happen but it still does yet people know the dangers of it. Yet fortunately nobody was hurt in this accident I could have been worse on many terms. My special intentions go to all families who has lost someone to impaired driving, and all the ones who have been injured caused by impaired driving, also R.I.P to all the fallen ones. Somebody Should have Told Him 'I went to a party, Mom' I went to a party, and remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom so I had a sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, the way you said I would, that I didn't drink and drive, though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, and your advice to me was right as the party finally ended, and the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mom something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, 'The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, ' Mom, His voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, as I try hard not to cry. I can hear the paramedic say, 'This girl is going to die.' I'm sure the guy had no idea, while he was flying high, because he chose to drink and drive, now I would have to die. So why do people do it, Mom Knowing that it ruins lives? And now the pain is cutting me, like a hundred stabbing knives. Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom tell daddy to be brave, and when I go to heaven, put 'Daddy's Girl' on my grave. Someone should have taught him, that its wrong to drink and drive. Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mom I'm getting really scared. These are my final moments, and I'm so unprepared. I wish that you could hold me Mom, as I lie here and die. I wish that I could say I love you, Mom So I love you and good-bye. By Mike Orman

The methods in which advertising media influence and reinforce sexism Essay
The methods in which advertising media influence and reinforce sexism in American society - Essay Example This paper illustrates that advertising revenue is the major funding source for the majority of entertainment and information that Americans receive. Broadcast and cable networks use advertising to generate money to fund programming that is informative, such as news magazine shows, and entertaining, such as sitcoms. Social media sites use advertising to pay for the costs of running their business. Most individuals watch television, read magazines and newspapers, or gather information through social media and the internet. Because advertising is the source of funding for most of these entertainment and information outlets, the individual is exposed to advertising multiple times per day. If sexism exists in the advertising, the individual is exposed to the influence of sexism, even if this exposure is subconscious. In short, we all view advertising, and it has an effect on us. The researcher hope to discover that advertising found in print, television, radio, and internet media employs sexism to sell a good or service. The researcher also hopes to discover that the sexism used in this advertising portrays men in a negative fashion. Specifically, the researcher hope to find evidence that advertising paints men as incompetent fathers, inattentive husbands, and unintelligent uninformed citizens. The researcher realizes that advertising objectifies women and uses sex to sell products to men. However, the researcher has noticed that many companies have begun doing the same to men. ... 5. Why do you care about the topic? I care about this topic primarily because I am male. I realize that advertising objectifies women and uses sex to sell products to men. However, I have noticed that many companies have begun doing the same to men. These corporations often portray men as horrible fathers that are incapable of rearing their children, as horrible husbands who do not listen to their wives, and as beer swilling sports fanatics that have no interest in intellectual pursuits. I think that, just as sexism in advertising has led to poor body image and other issues in females, sexism against men in advertising is leading a generation of men to view themselves as incompetent and worthless. 6. Why would others care about the topic or why do you want them to care? There is little doubt that women have been subject to sexism in American society for generations. However, in recent years, researchers and advocates have succeeded in voicing the issue of womenââ¬â¢s rights. Women have responded by overcoming much of this sexism and are now succeeding in school and career at a much higher rate than men. The same battle against sexism must be waged for men as well. If the negative portrayals of men continue to grow in advertising, we can expect that men will begin to devalue themselves and underachieve in school and career. This trend is already taking place within the male population, and our society must stop it. 7. Can you identify any significant connections to the topic that are taking place at this time in the world? Males in our education system are currently underperforming at an alarming rate. Fewer men graduate high school, college, and graduate school than women. At the same time, negative messages about men in
